Courage, Faith and Growth. Three words linked by one single word, ‘ACTION’. Conscious deliberate actions and decisions, help bring to life these three words. Facing one’s fears and choosing to stay true to one’s path and purpose takes a lot of courage. Courage is the ability to take great steps towards your goals no matter how highly stacked the odds seem against such endeavour, goal or ambition. Only a few people out of the sea of humans in the world ever Dare to face and surmount all that seems to look like obstacles towards their desired goal. Atticus Finch had this to say about courage, “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It is when you know you’re licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what”. According to Roy T.Bennett, it is to live the life of your dreams, it is to be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others. Courage is having enough faith in your dreams and goals.
To have faith is to believe in the unseen but believe it has been achieved. It is to acknowledge that one’s desire will come to fruition. It holds out against all negativity. Faith is an important virtue that anyone needs to be able to excel and have dominion over all that they do. Faith fuels courage as courage fuels faith also. To have faith in one’s dreams is to trust that it is tangible and achievable, you must see with the eyes of faith from the end to the beginning. According to Martin Luther King Jr, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase”. At certain points in life, certain situations might make one wonder if one’s dreams and goals are not simply mere wishes. At such times, it takes an unflinching belief to continue to take daily actions towards the fulfilment of such goals and dreams. To be courageous and be faithful is to do all one can do towards becoming the best version of one’s self. Courage and faith need action to come alive. To take the first step is to exhibit courage and faith. To continue to follow after one’s dreams is to be courageous and faithful enough to see the results of one’s hard work and persistence. Rewards and growth only come as a result of the courage and faith fueled by the actions we have shown and continue to live by.
Growth is the reward of so much work mostly done in the secret. Men see visible results but do not many times see the sacrifices, days of uncertainty and the many years of dogged diligence and the decision to not back down no matter what. We all want to grow and increase, but are we able to put in the work needed? Natural growth is normal and inevitable but growth in wisdom, our goals and dreams take conscious efforts. Nothing worthwhile comes easy, nobody gets rewarded or achieves a certain feat without all the many sacred virtues needed to make it happen. According to James Cash Penney, Growth is never by mere chance, it is the result of forces working together. Growth is never final. After every finish line, is always another starting point. Don’t ever get satisfied with the level you have attained, there is always more, there will always be more. So never settle. According to Antonio Brown, “the journey is never-ending. There’s always going to be growth, improvement, adversity; you just have to take it all in, and do what is right, continue to grow, continue to live in the moment. ”
Courage, Faith and Growth. When one is courageous, brave and believes in the achievability of one’s dreams, growth, increase and rewards are inevitable. Life never offers anyone rewards on a platter of gold, it is always a reward of great efforts, dedication and sacrifices of such persons or of persons before them. Fight for all that you are, for all that you desire to be. There is no gain in playing small or allowing fear to cripple one’s voice or actions. Don’t play small, please don’t. Believe in yourself. You are braver than you think, more talented than you know and capable of more than you imagine (Roy T.Bennett).
